Routines and General Information

1. Assembly is at 9.20am. It is important that the children develop the habit of being punctual for school. Children who are in the yard prior to official assembly time are not the responsibility of any member of staff, but are expected to take their  place in line. No pupil should arrive later than 9.20 am. Any child, who arrives continuously later than the official opening time, will have to enter through the main entrance, be signed into the late book and an explanation from the parents will be requested.


2. There is a short break at 11a.m. Lunch break is from 1.30p.m. The children should have a small snack at 11a.m. and something more substantial at lunchtime.


3. Under no circumstances, for safety reasons, is any child allowed to leave the school to go to the nearby shops.


4. If a child forgets any item, or one has to be delivered, please leave the item with the secretary and it will be delivered at break time.


5. Glass bottles, fizzy drinks, crisps, sweets, chocolate or any 'junk foods' are not allowed. 


6. Junior and Senior Infants are dismissed at 2p.m. Infants are not allowed to go home on their own. All other pupils are dismissed at 3.00pm.


7. At 3pm pupils are expected to leave the schools grounds in an orderly fashion and report home promptly. The school cannot accept responsibility for looking after any children after this time.


8. All children should line up in assembly yard at the back of the school.

For safety reasons please do not drive into the school yard when dropping /collecting children from school.

9. Children should enter and leave the main building of the school in an orderly way and as directed by staff. In the case of children travelling by school bus, the school has no responsibility for their actions on the bus, or for escorting them to and from the bus.


10. In the event of a pupil being absent through illness or for any other reason, the class teacher should be informed by note on the pupil's return to school. If it is anticipated that the absence will be of lengthy duration, the class teacher or Principal should be informed by note or telephone as soon as possible.

The school authorities are obliged to notify the school attendance officer when a child has been absent for twenty days regardless


Each child to whom the School Attendance Act applies, is

obliged by law to attend school every day, on which the school is in operation. 
11. When it is necessary for a pupil to leave school early, a note must be sent to the class teacher. Parents/Guardians are asked to call personally to the office to collect the child. Any person collecting  a child on behalf of the parents will only be permitted to take the child if the parent has contacted the school beforehand in person or by hand written note. A sign out sheet is to be completed at the office before the child will be dismissed. Please accept that it is only in the interest of the safety of your child that these procedures are in force.
12          If sending money into the school, for any reason, please place it in an envelope and put the child's name, class and the date on the cover.


13.  The use of mobile phones by children is strictly forbidden during school time.  If a child is found using a phone, the phone will be confiscated until collected by a
14.        In the interest of safety and child protection we have put the following measures in place. In the morning children will be collected by the class teacher from the yard.
 In the evenings pupils will be taken to the collection point by class teacher for collection by the parents/guardians. 
 We appreciate your understanding and co-operation in this matter. 



15. As the need arises, parents will receive notices with regard to school matters and events. Please check your child’s bag daily for notices issued from school. We are also using Textaparent as a means of communication and we will require one mobile number from you for texting purposes. If you change your number please contact the office so that we can up-date our database.
